New York. Currier & Ives. 1868.
Hand-colored lithographic, image size approximately 8 x 12 1/4 inches on sheet approximately 11 x 14 inches. Paper evenly time-toned. Slight paper loss outside margins of print not impacting image. Repaired 3/4 inch tear in right margin. Modest abrasion in blue-toned sky, upper right of image, otherwise good overall condition. View of a bucolic homestead with modest cottage and barn. Cattle and chickens enjoy a summer day. A sturdy red wagon in the foreground, heavy with product, is pulled by two white horses. This nostalgia-laden image was judged one of the "New Best Fifty Small Folio" by the American Historical Print Collectors Society in 1991, and is featured in their illustrated book of that title.
