Erté (Costumes and Curtains).
New York. New York Theatre Program Corporation. 1926.
40 pp theatre program, 7.75 x 5 inches, in full color paper wraps. Light horizontal crease across program; more pronounced two inch crease to bottom free end of rear cover and program's last page. Perhaps the most interesting feature of the program is the number which brought the first act to a close: "The Birth of the Blues...Leading up to George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue." Rhapsody premiered in February, 1924, and had achieved considerable success by 1926 in initial performances by Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra. The program features copious advertising with an emphasis on up-market men's and women's clothing. Color ads for Djer-Kiss, Kelly-Springfield Tires, Melachrino Cigarettes (endorsed--with photo portrait--by Grand Duke Boris of Russia) . Overall good condition, with issues noted. Item #48746
