Stevenson, F. G. (illus).
No date. Ca. early 1900s.
Pair of mezzotints, each 10 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches on sheet 11 3/4 x 7 1/4 inches, now matted to 12 x 16 inches. Light toning and soiling, wear to edges (now covered by mat), tiny (1/8 inch) abrasion to lower right corner of image of boy, some faint foxing visible in the girl's dress. Overall in very good display condition. This pair of mezzotints features a youthful blond boy in blue and a young girl in white dress and bonnet with blue ribbon and shoes - both set against lush and romantic landscapes. Each signed in pencil at lower right (matted over) "F. G. Stevenson". The rich mezzotint technique is used to great effect, in the contrast from dark background to light (figure and sky effects).
