Black and white photo illustrations and in-text illustrations, 312pp, 6 1/2 x 12 inches, pictorial cloth covered boards (hardbound). Covers soiled and rubbed; front hinge split but still attached, missing front endpaper, dampstain to right edge of last dozen pages in lower right corner of several pages, occasional light soiling, 1 inch tears to a few pages. Of particular interest are a series of pages between the chapters 'The Run Through Japan' and 'The Subjection of China' with photo illustrations (3 per page, and of a rather blurry quality) over the titles: "On the Way to, and Arrival at, Hong Kong" and "Illustrating the Capture of Hong Kong." Sample pages: one page showing three views of "One of the high-grade streets of Hong Kong, leading off the Queen's Road..."; street scenes on the way to the Races, and many views at the races. Chapters include: Crossing the Pacific, The Run Through Japan, The Subjection of China, Aden - At the Gate of Tears, An Engagement in Europe, Under the Statue of Liberty, etc. Item #48675
