VOLUME 1 OF 2, 12 double page color woodblock prints, Japanese style accordion format (orihon) with decorative embossed blue thick card covers and title label, 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches. Title label has been affixed to the front cover upside down, old tape repair to front hinge, light wear to extremities, some rippling to pastedowns suggesting that the covers may have been skillfully reattached. The interior images are clean and bright. Bold, richly colored designs by Katsushika Hokusai, exquisitely printed, including the use of mica highlights and embossing. Carved by Egawa Sentaro and printed by Yano Yoshigoro. Edited by Ichikawa Raijirō. The images include a magnificent rooster with family, an exquisitely printed image (with fine embossing) of a snake coiled around brightly colored fabric, a tiger with full moon. Item #47740
