New York. Arbuckle Bros. Coffee Co., No date. Ca. 1889.
Trade card, 3 x 5 inches, chromolithographic map and vignette illustrations on one side, text on verso. Light toning to lower edge of verso, 'Raymond' neatly written at upper edge of verso. Overall very good. This is one of a series of premium cards issued in the late 1800s by Arbuckle Coffee Company, this being from the series of foreign countries, showing a map surrounded by vignette illustrations of "the peculiar industries and scenery." The card shows a map of Italy, with an illustration of "Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius" to the left and of olives and olive oil to the right. As they had when they were first issued for advertising purposes, these attractively colored cards have exceptional popular appeal and make an unusual addition to a map collection or a great keepsake of a favorite place.
