Creston, Rene-Yves (illus).
Paris. Maison Prunier. 1936.
A four page menu approximately 14 1/2 x 10 inches with paste-down color plate on front cover, approximately 10 x 7 1/2 inches. Very faint fold to lower left corner and upper right corner of menu, neither affecting the Creston image (dated 1929 on plate). The front of the menu features a color plate entitled "Mise des tuiles en tas Locmariaquer--Fort Espagnol (Morbihan) 10 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches after a gouache by René-Yves Creston, one of the founders in 1923 of Seiz Breur, an advocacy group for Breton artists and craftspersons seeking recognition for avant-garde creations distinctively Breton in character. Creston designed furniture and produced earthenware, sculpture, woodcuts, watercolors and oils. The first interior page is titled "Nos Plats Spéciaux Prêts a la Demande," the second "Déjeuner," and the third "Carte des Vins." Three addresses for Maison Prunier are given on the menu, one in London and two in Paris. Some listings on the menu are given in pencil. An attractive and uncommon item in good condition dated Novembre 1936, much sought after for the art work of René-Yves Creston. Item #47443
