Black and white illustrations, all edges gilt, 135pp, 8 x 6 1/4 inches, rebound in green cloth covered boards (hardbound). Ink notation on verso of title page, front hinge cracked at frontispiece but still holding, list of illustrations page and double page map detached, time toning to pages, but overall an attractive volume in sturdy bright binding. Six illustrations as listed in the contents, including a striking double-page map (two minor spots) that includes a list of ship wrecks between 1809 and 1873. The title page provides further description of the book's contents, the tome providing "narratives of shipwrecks on its coast; its agriculture, fisheries, and mining; tales of the days of wrecking and smuggling; longevity of its inhabitants; names of places, their true Cornish renderings and significance, &c &c &c."
