Boston. Perry Mason Company. Copyright 1902.
Chromolithograph, 1903 triptych calendar, unfolding to approximately 12 x 18½ inches. There is a slit in the lower portion of the circular image intended to hold the calendar sheets, but these are not present. There is wrinkling at the bottom of the left panel, wear to the left fold, and a V-shaped stain (each branch of the V approximately 4 inches long) on the back of the central panel; this discoloration has not bled through to the image on the front. It is in good to very good condition, with flaws as noted. This delicately colored stand-alone triptych calendar features, in the central panel, a seated mother with her three children framed in a gilded circle. Two wings extend, one on either side of the central panel; these feature beautiful embossed floral designs. These wings are intended to hold the die-cut calendar upright on a table. The calendar, a stunning example of chromolithography, is copyright 1902 by the Perry Mason Company, Boston, and was offered as a premium to subscribers of The Youth's Companion. Overall, an uncommon, delicately wrought and most attractive ephemeral item. Item #47222
