New York. The Crowell Publishing Co., 08-13- 1917.
Complete August 13, 1917 issue of magazine, black and white photo illustrations and ads, 23pp, 14 x 10 inches, color pictorial wrappers as issued. Issue marred by adhesive tape applied as a preservative to the margins of a number of pages, including the cover. It is otherwise in good condition. Features "Everything You Want To Plant" by Susan Glaspell. Glaspell's short story appeared in the magazine Every Week during August of 1917; the price of the magazine was three cents - a one year subscription a dollar. The title of the story and Glaspell's name as author appear on the cover of the magazine, reflecting the fact that Glaspell had achieved popular recognition as an author of short stories featured in magazines of the era. Her career as a dramatist had only just begun, with Suppressed Desires in 1915 and the much admired Trifles in 1916. Attractive cover in color by Albert Hencke (1865-1936). Item #46817
