ONE VOLUME OF A SERIES. Total of 53 pages of color woodblock prints, 10 x 7 inches, blind embossed paper wrappers with title label, stab binding, double fold sheets. Light soiling to covers, interior in very good condition. The full series comprised 10 volumes published between 1891 and 1923; six of them illustrated by Shimizu Seifu and four by the artist Nishizawa Tekiho. The brilliant colors and simplicity of many of the toys contribute to an extraordinarily engaging picture book, of profound interest in its documentation of Japanese playthings. Shimizu Seifu was a collector and expert on Japanese toys. Item #46694
