Color pictographic / pictorial map, 13 3/8 x 21 inches on sheet size 17 x 21 1/2 inches, folding to pamphlet 8 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches, color illustrations, smaller map and text on verso. Tiny splits at two fold intersections with pinhead size loss; 1/2 inch separation at left edge of centrefold; light wear to lower edge of sheet; overall good condition. Humorous pictographs of early white settlers, Native Americans, trappers and contemporary tourists populate the map featuring Lake Vermilion at its center. Other features include Elbow Lake, various Resorts and Lodges, Trout Lake, Pine Island and the town of Tower. Commentary associated with the cartoon figures relates both to the history of the region as well as contemporary matters. Beneath the map is information on the resorts of the area, the list starting with Chap's Lodge and ending with Vic's Housekeeping Cabins. A single panel map illustrates routes to the region from Chicago and Minneapolis St. Paul. Informative text and illustrations on the verso. Item #46001
