Engraving with mezzotint, printed in color with additional handcolor, image size 12 3/4 x 8 1/4 inches on sheet 14 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches. TRIMMED TO PLATE MARK AT TOP EDGE, faint toning outside plate. Nine varieties of leaves and flowers, plate No. 216 from Johann Wilhelm Weinmann " Phytanthoza Iconographia ", printed on thick laid paper. Dunthorne (#327) notes that plates from this work represent "some of the earliest examples of color printing from a single plate", many of them printed by a combination of line engraving and mezzotint.
