Moderate wear to covers, front hinge starting to split under the weight of this hefty volume, light crease to lower corner of first few pages, occasional light foxing to plates. The color plate "Gold Spangled Hamburghs" is loosely laid in, replacing a missing plate. Tipped in to the front is a label identifying this edition as being specially prepared for Subscribers by The Waverley Book Co. A weighty volume documenting in detail the fine art of poultry keeping, with many magnificent types of poultry featured in the attractive and bright color portraits of Prize Birds including Partridge Cochins, Andalusians, White Leghorns, etc, painted from life by J. W. Ludlow. Contents include: Practical Management and Feeding of Fowls, Practical Breeding and Rearing of Prize Poultry, Poultry Diseases and Vices, chapters on Cochins, Brahams, Malays, etc. The missing color plate is that of Gold Spangled Hamburghs.
