Thompson, Kenneth (illus).
Remington Rand. Copyright 1944.
Five color maps, each 12 1/2 x 18 1/2 inches on sheet size 18 1/2 x 21 inches. Some light edge wear, vertical crease plus other soft vertical creases from rolling. Map VII has a waterstain at lower left just entering the image. This is a grouping of five of the seven maps of World War II battlefronts published by the Library Bureau of Remington Rand, located in OCLC under different descriptive titles, including "Stratospheric views of the seven strategic fronts of World War II" and "World War II Battlefronts." Taking a bird's eye view of the globe and with relief artistically rendered, Kenneth Thompson depicts World War II battlefronts; descriptive text beneath the image is by George Fielding Eliot. In keeping with the "aviation-age" cartography, the unusual perspective (from above, and often with a direction other than north at the top of the map) challenges the viewer to reconsider the geopolitical situation.
