Steel engraving, sheet 10 3/4 x 7 1/4 inches. Discoloration from adhesive to edges of verso (not affecting front image), a few faint spots to lower margin; otherwise very good condition. One in a series of engravings dating from the mid-nineteenth century which portray famous contemporary actors and actresses in the Shakespearean roles with which they were famously associated. The oval image depicting the costumed actor or actress is surrounded by a decorative border containing miniature images relating to the play from which the character is drawn. Underneath the image is a single line quotation from the play, Coriolanus. Item #45143
