Single volume of this set, Japanese accordion style binding with paper covered boards, 11 x 7 1/2 inches, 26 double page, 2 single page color woodblock prints. WITH ORIGINAL PAPER TITLED WRAPPER / SLIP. Scattered light soiling to the plates, but overall the plates are clean and bright; two small areas of insect damage to the rear boards, not affecting the interior. This is a single volume of the magnificent ten volume set of illustrations of Japanese flowers from the four seasons "Shiki no Hana," this being the only volume depicting flowers of the winter. The set was published at the beginning of the twentieth century, composed from paintings by Sakai Hoitsu, the son of the Daimyo in Harima Province in the early nineteenth century, his disciple Suzuki Sonoichi, and Nakano Sonoaki. Amongst the plants depicted are several citrus, camellias and spring bulbs. A wonderful collection of floral images. Item #44974
