Two woodcuts (each approximately 5 x 3 inches), hand colored, on single sheet 8 1/2 x 14 inches, text on verso. Dampstain to lower right edge, a few faint scattered spots, overall very good condition. Beautifully designed and executed wood cuts of two plants, showing fruit, flowers, roots. Coloring appears to be early hand color, simple and carefully done. Page 73 from an unidentified old German language (fraktur) herbal, possibly Mattioli’s "Kreuterbuch ...." (Jacob Fischer, Frankfurt am Main, 1611) a German version of his "Pedacii Dioscoridis de materia medica libri sex" first published in Venice 1558. Item #44591
