Four woodcuts (each approximately 5 x 3 inches), hand colored, on single sheet 8 1/2 x 14 inches, two woodcuts and text on verso. Dampstain to lower right edge, overall very good condition. Beautifully designed and executed wood cuts of four Geranium plants, showing flowers, roots. Coloring appears to be early hand color, simple and carefully done. Verso of page 297 from an unidentified old German language (fraktur) herbal, possibly Mattioli’s "Kreuterbuch ...." (Jacob Fischer, Frankfurt am Main, 1611) a German version of his "Pedacii Dioscoridis de materia medica libri sex" first published in Venice 1558. Two additional wood cuts of Geraniums on verso.
