Two woodcuts (each approximately 5 x 3 inches), hand colored, on single sheet 8 1/2 x 14 inches, two woodcuts and text on verso. A few small spots and some short edge tears, overall very good condition. Beautifully designed and executed wood cuts of two plants, showing flowers, fruit, roots. Coloring appears to be early hand color, simple and carefully done. Verso of page 402 from an unidentified old German language (fraktur) herbal, possibly Mattioli’s "Kreuterbuch ...." (Jacob Fischer, Frankfurt am Main, 1611) a German version of his "Pedacii Dioscoridis de materia medica libri sex" first published in Venice 1558. Two wood cuts of Verbascum on verso. Item #44576
