Single woodcut (approximately 5 x 3 inches), hand colored, on single sheet 8 1/2 x 14 inches, text on verso. A few faint spots (mainly to outer margins), overall very good condition. Beautifully designed and executed wood cut of a branch from a pear tree, showing flowers, fruit, seeds. Coloring appears to be early hand color, simple and carefully done. Page 83 from an unidentified old German language (fraktur) herbal, possibly Mattioli’s "Kreuterbuch ...." (Jacob Fischer, Frankfurt am Main, 1611) a German version of his "Pedacii Dioscoridis de materia medica libri sex" first published in Venice 1558. Item #44561
