Single woodcut (approximately 5 x 3 inches), hand colored, on single sheet 8 1/2 x 14 inches, two woodcuts and text on verso. A few light spots, some soft creases, overall very good condition. Beautifully designed and executed wood cut of a cypress tree, showing detail of cones and sees. Coloring appears to be early hand color, simple and carefully done. Page 30 from an unidentified old German language (fraktur) herbal, possibly Mattioli’s "Kreuterbuch ...." (Jacob Fischer, Frankfurt am Main, 1611) a German version of his "Pedacii Dioscoridis de materia medica libri sex" first published in Venice 1558. Verso includes two wood cuts Iuniperus maior and Iuniperus minor, showing leaves, fruit, and roots of juniper. Item #44560
