Two woodcuts (each approximately 5 x 3 inches), hand colored, on single sheet 8 1/2 x 14 inches, single woodcut and text on verso. A few faint spots to right edge, paper loss to lower left corner (affecting a minimal portion of text on verso), overall very good condition. Beautifully designed and executed wood cuts of two plum plants, showing flowers, fruit. Coloring appears to be early hand color, simple and carefully done. Page 88 from an unidentified old German language (fraktur) herbal, possibly Mattioli’s "Kreuterbuch ...." (Jacob Fischer, Frankfurt am Main, 1611) a German version of his "Pedacii Dioscoridis de materia medica libri sex" first published in Venice 1558. Verso includes a wood cut of Sorbos Torminalis showing a branch of the tree with leaves and fruit. Item #44556
