Light edgewear; soft creasing to bottom margin from rolling; multiple short tears (up to 1/4 inch) to bottom margin, outside neatline; overall very good condition. Colorful and humorous poster map by Edward Camy showing routes for The Alaska Steamship Company, The Alaska Railroad, the Copper River & Northwestern Railway, White Pass & Yukon Route Rail Line, etc. This was issued by the Alaska Steamship Company, promoting the tourist attractions of the great state of Alaska: "Let The Alaska Line show you Alaska...here is America's last frontier...here is America's most varied vacationland." The map stretches from Seattle at lower right ("Gateway to Alaska" and "Home of Alaska Steamship Co.") as far as Siberia at upper left where a stout Russian greets Uncle Sam on the other side of the Bering Strait. The pictographs depict Mt. McKinley, oil rigs, "baseball game at midnight", a dog team, a Mountie across the Canadian border and much more. At top right is an inset detail map of the area around Valdez and Fairbanks. Along the lower edge are comic vignette illustrations showing the pleasures of the cruise.
