Double-page wood engraving (black on cream background with some white highlights), Supplement to The Graphic of June 30, 1888; 14 1/2 x 22 inches on sheet size 16 x 23 inches, centrefold as issued. Two 1/2 inch edge tears (outside image area) and 1 inch split to upper centerfold (all archivally mended), otherwise very good clean condition. Pictured centrally are the (chiefly aristocratic) breeders of thoroughbred racehorses, while in the border that surrounds the central image are portraits of well-known jockeys and others. HRH The Prince of Wales is surrounded by prominent men such as the Duke of Portland, Count Charles Kinsky, Earl Rosebery, Mr. Leopold de Rothschild, Sir George Chetwynd, and Sir R. Jardine. Among the persons pictured in the border are George Barrett, John Osborne, F. Webb, Harry Custance, and John Porter. Item #43460
