Hawkins, Waterhouse (drawn by).
Lithograph, handcolored, image approximately 16 x 11 1/2 inches on sheet size 18 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches. A few 1/8 inch closed binding holes to mid left edge (not affecting image), very good condition. A stunning image by Waterhouse Hawkins, contrasting great precision in the lithography of the two buzzards with a broad artistic treatment of the rocks upon which the two birds are perched. The feathers are various shades of brown and white with bright yellow feet. It was published in John Edward Gray: Illustrations of Indian Zoology Chiefly...from the Collection of Major-General Hardwicke (1830-1835). The lithograph was printed by Graf & Soret. Item #43397
