Full page wood engraving from Harper's Weekly magazine, January 25, 1868, 9 x 13 1/2 inches on sheet size 11 1/4 x 16 1/2 inches. Generally good condition, with soft vertical crease; very light dampstain to top of upper margin at least 3/4 inch from image. A charming scene of a group of girls and young women skating. The prominent late 19th century American artist Winslow Homer worked as an illustrator for Harper's Weekly and other illustrated journals from the 1850s to the mid 1870s, his designs being rendered as wood-engravings.
