One of the exquisite color stipple engravings from Jean-Henri Jaume Saint-Hilaire's Traite Des Arbres Forestiers, published in Paris in 1824. This plate (#83) depicts a bough of a Sorbier (?) tree, botanical details shown below. A fine example of the quality of antique French botanical prints of the era of Redoute, this was used to illustrate a work on the forest trees of France. Item #42606
