Black and white engraved plates, vi+ii+88pp, 11 1/4 x 8 3/4 inches, marble paper covered boards with leather spine and corners, decorative gilt spine (hardbound). Covers are quite worn with 2 1/2 inch loss to tail of spine and joints cracked. Small bookbinder label to front pastedown, scattered foxing (approximately ten plates affected), soft crease to lower right corner of a few pages, overall the interior and plates are remarkably clean and bright. Very fine engravings drawn by Thomas Shepherd of various bird's eye city views, architecture and local landscapes, with extensive descriptive texts. A lovely volume about this beautiful city.
