Color pictographic / pictorial map, 16 1/2 x 21 3/4 inches (41.5 x 55.5 cm) on sheet 17 x 22 1/4 inches, folding to pamphlet 8 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches; black and white illustrations, text, and a small black and white map on verso. Insect damage along 3 exposed edges of front panel resulting in minor paper loss along folds of map at that point, not very noticeable; crisp, clean condition and would display very well. Color map of central Cincinnati with pictographs of important buildings depicted with a pictorial (axonometric) perspective. There is a vignette illustration in the upper right corner, "Coney Island" and at lower left edge "Mt. St. Joseph College on the Ohio." The cartouche reads: "A New Map Historic & Pictorial Cincinnati Queen City. Copyrighted 1940 by Cincinnati Pictorial Map Co. Artist - Jo Thompson." Based on a map published in 1938, this edition includes more outlying areas of the city and incorporates changes (eg. the inclusion of 3 additional buildings in the Procter & Gamble complex); the color scheme is greatly toned down, the background color being a soft green as opposed to the brilliant orange of the previous edition. On the verso is "A Brief History of the History of Cincinnati," "Points of Interest to be seen in Cincinnati" and "Different Ways to See the City" with a map of The Cincinnati Street Railway Co. lines.
