Twelve chromolithographic plates with protective tissue guards, numerous black and white plates and in-text illustrations, small folding map, xxxvii + 477pp, index, 11 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, embossed gilt decorative cloth covered boards (hardbound). Cover edges rubbed, corners lightly bumped, a few soiled spots and small dent to back cover, interior in good clean condition, paper starting to split at front hinge but binding still tight and text block firmly attached, dampstaining to lower right corner of three color plates (outside image area) and a few pages with faint scattered foxing. Overall a good to very good copy of this hefty volume. This large volume houses an extensive collection of North American Indian artifacts with accompanying papers: Zuni Fetiches, Myths of the Iroquois, Navajo Silversmiths, Art in Shell of the Ancient Americans, Illustrated Catalogue of the Collections Obtained from the Indians of New Mexico and Arizona in 1879 and Illustrated Catalogue of the Collections Obtained from the Indians of New Mexico in 1880. Includes a small folding map: Map Showing Location of the Pueblos of Arizona and New Mexico and two page Map of the Province of Tusayan Arizona. Item #40889
