Stipple and aquatint engraving with added handcolor, plate mark 10 x 8 1/4 inches on sheet 15 x 11 inches. Very good condition. This fine plate is from the publication "Pomona Herefordiensis; containing coloured engravings of the old Cider and Perry fruits of Herefordshire" which was prepared by Thomas Andrew Knight, a wealthy landowner who was the most distinguished horticulturist of his time, and an excellent fruit breeder. Of particular historical interest is the "warts and all" quality of the fruit. Item #39401
