Shin Toa Shigen Kaihatsu Kaisetsu chizu. Great East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere Resource and Development Map.
Tokyo. Tokyo Nichinichi Shimbunsha. 1939.
Color pictorial / pictographic map, 20 x 30 on sheet 21 3/4 x 31 inches. An extraordinarily whimsical treatment of Japan's imperialist aspirations... The map, published by the Nichinichi newspaper company, shows the products of the countries of East Asia in little pictographs. At lower right is an inset table graphing trade with China, including steel, petroleum, rice, pigments and dyes, wood products etc. On the verso is text "news at a glance" with information on the provinces of China and of Manchuria.
