Beautifully detailed and subtly handcolored image of two birds on a leafy branch. Drawn and lithographed by W. Hart, printed by Walter. From "The Birds of New Guinea," the last of John Gould's famous series of ornithological works; this work was reviewed in the Auk magazine as a "magnificent contribution to ornithology." R. Bowdler Sharpe took over as editor of this work after Gould's death in 1881. Item #37907
