4 chromolithographic plates, black and white in-text illustrations, 32 pages, 11 1/4 x 9 inches, paper-covered boards with large color pictorial cover label (hardbound). Cover detached, split down spine and very rubbed at extremities, light occasional spotting to interior, abrasions across rear endpapers from roughly erased pencil marks, short tear to two text pages, frontispiece has 2 edge tears in margin with one extending just to image, otherwise plates in very good condition. A scarce title, inculcating the work ethic. Includes: "The Little Farmer", "The Little Ploughman", "The Little Florist", "The Little Joiner", "The Little Blacksmith", "The Little Cooper", "The Little Printer", etc. Chromolithographic plates show a boy planting a tree, a boy sowing seeds with plow horses in background, a boy pushing a wheelbarrow, and "The Little Joiner" with a boy sawing wood next to a girl holding a doll under a sign: "Dolls Mended" Item #37297
