Engraving, handcolored, image 17 x 9 on sheet 18 1/2 x 11 inches. Wove paper with 'J Whatman 1816' watermark. Small ink mark near bottom of image, very good condition. Background leaf is uncolored. With accompanying text sheet. A plate from the second edition of William Curtis's magnum opus "Flora Londinensis" (de Belder #87, Dunthorne #87), enlarged by George Graves and William Jackson Hooker. The wove paper in this edition is whiter than the laid paper in the 18th century edition. The plants are depicted life size, and include most of the British flora. Item #36154
