Green and white bird's eye view pictorial / pictographic map, 16 1/2 x 38 inches, folding as issued to 9 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches, text and brown and white map on verso. Black paper residue and what appears to be an original bad print job to back cover, multiple separations at fold intersections up to 1/ 4 inch; map in very good clean condition. A welcoming message on the front of the pamphlet is signed by Frank F. Merriam, Governor of California - which dates this map to the period 1934 - 1939. However, on the verso in a small box on the road map of the state, is the "WARNING: While attractions for tourists are unlimited in California, it is necessary to advise person seeking employment not to come here at this time. When opportunity arises California will gladly make it known." the attractive bird's eye view style map of the state is by noted California mapmaker Charles Owens. Text on verso describes "Principal Points of Tourist Interest." Item #35413
