Engraving on cream laid paper with watermark, 6 3/4 x 4 9/16 inches (16.2 x 11.5 cm). Generally good condition, trimmed to plate mark. Verso, hinge adhesive upper left and upper right corners. Inscribed in the plate, lower left, "Cor Poulenbourgh delin.", lower center, "Coen Waumans Sculp.", lower right, "Io Meyssesns exc." Inscribed with a biographical statement about Poelenburg in the margin, " Natif d'Utrecht . . . retire a Utrecht." After a self-portrait by artist Cornelis van Poelenburg, one of the most important artists of the first generation of Dutch Italianate painters. Engraved by Waumans as part of a series of portraits published by Joannes Meyssens (Flemish, 1612-1670) in Antwerp.
