Engraving with original handcolor, sheet 6 1/2 x 4 inches. Faint dampstain to top edge extending just into image, otherwise very good condition. Plate 16 from William Jardine's Naturalist's Library volume on parrots. The artist, Edward Lear, is renowned as an ornithological artist and these are beautiful miniature examples of his work. A black parrot with read feathers around the eyes. Only the bird is handcolored, the landscape background being etched in. Engraved by Lizars. Item #34682
