Color pictorial / pictographic map, multiple fold as issued, 21 1/4 x 33 3/4 inches folding to 8 3/4 x 3 1/2 inches, mint condition. This is a brightly colored and highly decorative bird's eye view style map looking north east from the Pacific Ocean at the Mexico - California border. Contemporary sites are marked, including a white skyscraper marking Los Angeles and activities such as surfing at La Jolla and golfing on Santa Catalina are denoted with little figures. Vignettes decorate the border. Color map "Roads to Romance Road Map", color photo illustrations and information on the tourist sites on verso of map. A re-do of the Claude Putnam map originally published in 1950 here embellished with the decorative border from the 1946 Claude Putnam map, although here the publisher is the Southern California Tourist Ass'n. Inc. Item #33992
