One of the exceptionally fine handcolored lithographs issued in the "Reports of Explorations and Surveys, To Ascertain the Most Practicable and Economical Route for a Railroad from the Mississippi River To The Pacific Ocean" published by the U.S. Government. This is plate VI from an unknown volume, depicting a brown toned bird with long legs. The region noted at the top left of this plate is 32nd. Parallel (West). Item #33389
