An exceptionally fine handcolored lithograph issued in the "Reports of Explorations and Surveys, To Ascertain the Most Practicable and Economical Route for a Railroad from the Mississippi River To The Pacific Ocean" published by the U.S. Government. This is plate III from an unidentified volume, depicting a bird of prey perched on a branch. The region noted at the top left of this plate is California. Item #33334
