A particularly attractive image of three birds in a field setting with farm buildings in background. Single plate from W.B. Tegetmeier's "The Poultry Book". Striking image of prize poultry, depicted by Harrison Weir who "poured out a lifetime of devotion to English poultry" (Norris, Books on Poultry and Cock-Fighting). Color printing by Leighton Brothers. Leighton was a pupil of George Baxter and became the printer and publisher of the Illustrated London News between 1858 and 1885. Item #30406
