Map, printed color, 23.75 x 30.75", folded as issued; with seven color lithographic prints, five 7.5 x 5.5" and two 5.5 x 7.5" on sheets 9 x 12". Map: 1 x 1/2" patched hole just inside upper border, also with discoloration from old tape, another 1/2 x 2" stain from old tape (now removed) just entering image area at right, small spot below title, four pinholes at corners well outside image area, short repaired tear at left, long repaired tear along one fold. Generally the map is clean and bright and would be very attractive displayed. Prints: good condition with light damp staining to two edges ending well outside image area. This large, attractive map of Alaska is accompanied by seven attractive ethnographic color lithographs. Nine groupings of native Alaskan tribes and their geographic distribution are shown on this map (18 tribes named): Eskimo (Inuit), Asiatic Eskimo, Eskimo Athabaskan, Eskimo Thlinkit, Aleut (Oonangan) (2 tribes named), Athabaskan (Tinneh) (9 tribes named), Thlinkit (12 tribes named), Hyda and Chukche. The color lithographs (printed by A. Hoen, Baltimore) are: 'Kuskokvegmute - Male Summer Dress', 'Tennanah Tribe - Man and Woman', Mahlemute - Man and Woman', 'Thlinkit and Man from Copper River', Beluga Hunter and Dwellings - Lower Kuskokvim, Alaska', 'Yukon Tundra in Summer' and 'Burial Place of Togiagamute'.
