VOL. XX. No. 5. Illustrated monthly news and humor magazine, 14 x 10 1/2 inches, 45 pp. including covers, featuring a colorful illustrated article "The Dawn of Japanese Art" by Gustav Kobbe. Another feature of considerable interest is the full-page color illustration by J.C. Leyendecker illustrating Part One of the "Rubaaiyat of Omar Khayyam." "A.B.C. Zoo Sketches" by Grace Gallatin Seton-Thompson provides engrossing focus in a piece titled "Elk." British artist Louis Rhead is the focus of another article, with work by the artist in both color and black and white. The most striking of Rhead's illustrations depicts "The Leaping Ouananiche" (an Atlantic Salmon). A humorous illustrated article by R. L. McCordell titled "Jimmy Jones the Autobiography of an Office Boy" provides engaging entertainment, while a full-page illustration in color depicts actor Stuart Robson in the role of Oliver Goldsmith. Cover art (titled "Cleopatra") by W. de L. Dodge. Cover spine splitting with some paper loss and 1 x 1/4 inch paper loss at upper left corner; very light staining to lower free edge of a few scattered pages, not affecting the illustrations mentioned above); overall good condition.
