Color stipple engraving, sheet size 10 x 5 7/8 inches, very light scattered foxing, tight left edge, very good condition. One of the exquisite color stipple engravings from Jean-Henri Jaume Saint-Hilaire's Traite Des Arbres Forestiers, published in Paris in 1824. This plate (#80) depicts a bough of a tree, botanical details shown to the right. A fine example of the quality of antique French botanical prints of the era of Redoute, this was used to illustrate a work on the forest trees of France.
